Our Mission

Christians Together across Exeter recognise and uphold the variety of Christian experience and tradition found in Exeter. We will pray for and encourage one another, creating spaces for all Christians across Exeter to meet periodically declaring our unity in Jesus Christ and seeking ways of sharing the Gospel across the City.

This statement is derived from the Basis of Churches Together in Devon (and England) which is:

Churches Together in England unites in pilgrimage those churches in England which, acknowledging God’s revelation in Christ, confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures, and, in obedience to God’s will and in the power of the Holy Spirit commit themselves:

• to seek a deepening of their communion with Christ and with one another in the Church, which is his body; and
• to fulfil Christ’s mission to proclaim the Gospel in the world, to encourage and enable our churches and fellowships not to do alone what they can more effectively do together.
• to provide opportunities for united prayer, united worship, united outreach.
• to foster better communication and dialogue between our churches and
  fellowships, and to provide a forum for the exchange of information.
• to establish, maintain relationships and publicly converse with other Christian
  ecumenical groupings, communities of other faiths and local statutory and voluntary bodies in Exeter.

How CTaX operates

Membership is open to all Christian churches, charities, organisations or fellowships based in Exeter who are committed to working in the values above. We have an extensive email contact list and correspond frequently to connect and inform about events and news in and around Exeter. To be added to our list please contact ctaxexeter@gmail.com

We hold an annual online AGM in the autumn term, everyone is welcome to attend and we meet periodically throughout the year, maintaining our commitment to our values and mission . 

The Chair is appointed for two years with the possibility of reappointment for a maximum further period of two years. 

The Secretary & Treasurer are appointed for two years, with the possibility of further appointments of the same length every two years.

The Deputy Chair is appointed annually. 

Executive Committee

The Exec meets around four times a year and comprises people from various churches and organisations. Please get in touch if you, or someone you know would like to find out more about this group.

Our current exec team are Hannah Richards (chair), Ash Leighton-Plom (deputy chair), Phil Wales, Frank Bennett, Maria Edwards and Jon Curtis.

Finance 

Financial support for the work of CTAX is based on donations from member churches and Christians organisations. The accounts shall be presented annually at the AGM.
