ONE for Exeter Church leaders

ONE for Exeter: United for the Good of the City and working in partnership with CTaX

A Vision for Church Unity and Civic Flourishing
ONE for Exeter is a collaborative movement of church leaders across Exeter,
committed to building relationships, strengthening prayer, and advancing missional
partnerships that bring transformational life in Jesus Christ to our city.

We believe that a united Christian witness—rooted in love, prayer, and shared
purpose—can bless Exeter socially, spiritually, and culturally. By working together,
churches can better serve communities, engage public bodies with clarity and
credibility, and contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of the city.

Our Journey
Since 2017, ONE for Exeter has gathered church leaders from diverse
denominations to pray, build trust, and collaborate in mission.
Our input into the city has included:

•Running an annual conference ‘CityLife’ and helping facilitate city-wide prayer gatherings with Pray4Exeter and CTaX.

•Strategic partnerships with Christians Together Across Exeter (CTAX) recognising the input of congregational members.

• Running the ecumenical annual Education Sunday and inputting on other joint ecumenical services such as ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ and Good Friday.

•Helping to connect Christians in prayer and fellowship within their relevant Spheres of Influence and working in partnership with initiatives like Pray4Exeter.

We link with the Gather Movement—a national network of over 8,000 churches and
charities in 150+ towns and cities—working together to improve places socially,
culturally, environmentally, and spiritually. Gather Movement
Vision and Values
ONE for Exeter is:
 Relational – fostering trust and collaboration across churches
 Prayerful – seeking God’s guidance and power together
 Missional – serving Exeter through united action and witness
We value:
 Loving God, one another, and our city
 Witnessing the unity and growth of God’s Kingdom
 Celebrating diversity, kindness, and collaboration
 Seeing the goodness of God in the land of the living

Strategic Objectives (2025–2026)
Over the next two years, we aim to:
 Encourage greater relational links between church leaders of different
churches and denominations and collaborative outreach to the city of Exeter.
 Strengthen collective prayer across churches and civic spheres
 Increase visibility and engagement with public bodies
 Launch a city-wide mapping resource to showcase Christian social action

Why This Matters
Churches already run vital ministries supporting families, the isolated, the poor, and
young people. ONE for Exeter believes that by working together, we can amplify
these efforts—sharing learning, increasing visibility, and reaching more lives than
ever before.

Civic Engagement and Strategic Impact
The mapping tool of Christian social action across the city will:
 Help churches and individuals identify existing projects and new opportunities
 Enable public bodies to engage with the Church as a unified partner
 Foster collaboration across sectors like education, healthcare, and business
By connecting Christians in their “Spheres of Influence,” we empower them to be
faithful witnesses in every area of civic life.
